Leaman Junior High capped its inaugural year in style, taking the title in Lamar CISD’s annual U.S. History Quiz Bowl.
Each year, 8th-grade students from across the District meet at the end of the year for bragging rights. The first two rounds of the competition are done via an internet link, with the final round played out live in the Brazos Crossing Administration Building.
Leaman’s two-point victory came after answering a series of U.S. History questions covering the Colonial period to after the Civil War.
Jack Conway, Madelyn Crain, Charles Dailey, John Jones, Lane Krenek, Quinn Murphy, Jobelle Navarro, Ashton Oxford, Hayden Smith and Megan Smith made up the Leaman team. Lenhurst O'Brien and Eric Soehnge were the team’s coaches.
