MAKE-UP DAYS
The Texas Education Agency has approved waivers for the affected school districts. Lamar CISD will apply to waive the missed days, meaning the District will not have any official make-up days.
CURRICULUM
Lamar CISD will adjust the curriculum pacing to ensure that all students receive the appropriate instruction on their grade-level concepts and skills.
FOOD SERVICE
Lamar CISD has applied for a meals waiver for September 2017. All students, regardless of location or application status, will receive a breakfast meal and lunch meal at no charge if they choose to participate. This is only for the month of September. Beginning October 2, all students will revert back to their current meal status. It is very important for families to continue to complete the application for meal benefits if they believe they would qualify.
FLOODING ASSISTANCE: DISPLACED STUDENTS
Lamar CISD is committed to helping children and families experiencing temporary displacement to overcome barriers to fully participate in our instructional programs.
If you were displaced during Hurricane Harvey and you have questions about your child’s educational options for the 2017-2018 school year—please contact your child's campus directly (beginning Sep. 7, 2017) for important information and assistance.
THE MCKINNEY-VENTO HOMELESS ASSISTANCE ACT
The education provisions of the McKinney-Vento Act are designed to protect the educational rights of children experiencing homelessness or displacement.
If you were displaced from your home because of the recent flooding, please fill out the student residency questionnaire below and return it to your child’s campus as soon as possible (beginning Sep. 7, 2017)
Student Residency Questionnaire
If you are unable to print and complete the questionnaire, a hard copy will be provided at your child’s school (beginning Sep. 7, 2017). You can find your school’s contact information below.
