At its April meeting, the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of three principals.
Keschia Jones is the new principal for Smith Elementary. A graduate of the University of Houston, Jones has her master’s from the University of Houston at Victoria.
Jones has 23 years of experience in education, including teaching in Houston ISD and teaching and serving as a bilingual/ESL specialist in Alief ISD. Jones is currently an assistant principal at Terry High School.
Risa Crosby will be the new principal at Jane Long Elementary. A graduate of Texas A&M University, she has her masters from the University of Houston-Victoria.
Crosby has 14 years of experience, all in Lamar CISD. She has previously served as the Math Facilitator at Velasquez Elementary and a teacher at Williams Elementary. Crosby is currently the assistant principal at Jane Long Elementary.
Bethany Cunningham has been named the new principal of Huggins Elementary. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Houston Baptist University and her master’s from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
This is Cunningham’s fourteenth year in education. She joined Lamar CISD with the opening of Lindsey Elementary in 2017 and prior to becoming an administrator, she taught first, second and fifth grade. Cunningham is currently the assistant principal at Lindsey Elementary.
