Last Friday was certainly an unusual day. I don’t ever remember the electricity being out for the entire day. I want to thank all of you that were so understanding of the situation. We had to make some decisions about what to do for the rest of the day. Some of those decisions had to be made at the central office level. Most of you chose to pick up your student and take them home. If you were unable to pick them up we had a plan in place for those students to complete the school day. The students that remained at Austin were bused over to Frost Elementary to continue their instructional day. We were able to contact every parent to apprise them of the situation. The staff did a great job of getting in touch with all of their students’ parents. Communication is the key to make sure that all parents know what is going on and how it is going to be handled. Let’s hope we don’t have to deal with any future electrical problems or anything other than a normal school day. Thanks again for your cooperation in this disruptive event.
