At its regular June meeting, the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees approved Brian Gibson as the new principal of Velasquez Elementary.
Prior to becoming principal at Velasquez, Gibson served as an assistant principal at Edgar Glover Jr. and Sugar Mill elementary schools in Fort Bend ISD. He also taught 2nd and 4th grades, and served as a campus math specialist in Fort Bend ISD.
Gibson earned his bachelor’s degree at Sam Houston State University and master's in Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University, where he is pursuing his doctorate in Educational Leadership.
