Lamar Consolidated High School’s Rick Lafavers was named the Houston Texans Coach of the Week award winner for Week Seven of the football season. Methodist Hospital is the sponsor for the award.
In his first season as the Mustangs head coach he has already made an impression on his community. He has also made an impact on his football program, helping them to surpass their 2014 win total early in this year’s campaign.
“I think he sets himself apart from others because he truly cares and it’s not just a job for him. He teaches our kids to believe,” one Mustang parent wrote. “He is building a good team and proving to our boys that they have potential."
Lafavers received a certificate signed by Texans Head Coach Bill O’Brien and the football program received $2,500.
