Longhorn runners earn two golds at State Track meet; GRHS boys and girls teams finish in top 6

Two George Ranch Longhorns returned from the State Track and Field Meet sporting the gold medals awarded to Texas' best athletes.

Champion Allison is the champ in the Class 5A 400-meter dash and Jayson Baldridge crossed the line first in the 300-meter hurdles. 

As a team, George Ranch finished fifth in the state for the 5A Division, accumulating 34 points. Jacob Adair finished third in the pole vault. The quartet of Champion, Baldridge, Darius Anderson and Josh Scruggs finished fifth in the 4x100-meter relay and Champion and Baldridge teamed with Cory Gorman and Leroy Franklin to finish fifth in the 4x400-meter relay.

The George Ranch girls track team also did well, earning sixth overall with 22 points. Jazmyne Tilford-Rutherford, Chidube Ogbonna, Kandice Miles and Lisa Egege combined for the silver medal in the 4x400-meter relay. Tilford-Rutherford, Ogbonna, Miles and Egege also teamed up for fifth in the 4x100-meter relay.

Tilford-Rutherford also finished fifth in the 400-meter dash.

Lamar Consolidated High School’s Krystle Ike finished eighth in the discus and Foster Falcon Cherish Egbo was ninth in the shot put.
