On Thursday, Nov. 21, Lamar CISD dedicated its 26th elementary school in honor of Judge Thomas R. Culver III, a man who dedicated his life to serving others in his community. His contributions to Fort Bend County and his personal life stand as examples to all those who consider themselves leaders.
Growing up, Judge Culver was an avid participant in the Boy Scouts of America, earning his Eagle Scout ranking during high school. After graduating high school, he attended Baylor University, where he received his business degree in 1971 and later his Juris Doctor Degree from Baylor Law in 1973.
After law school, Judge Culver’s career brought him to Rosenberg, Texas, where he spent the remainder of his life serving the people of Fort Bend County. He served as the Fort Bend County Assistant District Attorney, the County Court at Law Judge, was elected as the 240th District Judge, and he served on many other boards and committees.
He was also very active in the community, serving on two Pro-Grad committees of Lamar Consolidated High School, as a member of the Richmond Rotary Club, and many years as a trustee for the South Texas Children’s Home. Culver Elementary is located at 3131 Learning Tree Ln. in Rosenberg.
During the dedication ceremony, family and friends of Judge Culver enjoyed a special musical performance from the Cheetah Choir, followed by a reception in the library.
