On March 8, two veteran educators were named 2021 Principals of the Year for Lamar CISD.
Henva Medlow is the 2021 Elementary Principal of the Year. She has been the principal of Carter Elementary since it opened in the fall of 2018.
Prior to taking the helm at Carter, Medlow served as the principal at Williams Elementary for five years. She also previously served as an assistant principal at Williams Elementary, and an assistant principal, science specialist and teacher in Houston ISD.
Stephen Judice is the 2021 Secondary Principal of the Year and has been principal at George Junior High since 2017.
Judice has 16 years of experience in education. Prior to joining the Lamar CISD family, Judice served as principal, assistant principal and teacher in the Lafayette Parish School System.
Both principals were surprised by Superintendent Dr. Thomas Randle on their campuses.
Each year, Lamar CISD principals choose two of their colleagues to be the Principals of the Year. Only elementary principals (grades K-5) vote for Elementary Principal of the Year and secondary principals (grades 6-12) vote for Secondary Principal of the Year.
