Congratulations to the George Ranch High School Boys Swim team for winning the Region VII Team Championship.
The George Ranch Girls team finished second in the Region.
Lamar CISD swimmers earned nine gold medals, 10 silvers and 11 bronzes.
Two Longhorn teams qualified for the State Meet: the Medley Relay team of Blake Grote, Sean Mangel, Michael Dziuk, Cody Moore; and the 200 Freestyle Relay of Robby Valdez, Blake Grote, Sean Mangel and Cody Moore.
George Ranch’s time for the 200 Freestyle Relay set a new regional record.
Blake Grote also qualified in the 100-meter Backstroke.
George Ranch’s Colby Reed and Foster High School’s Alan Ward qualified for the State Meet in Diving. Ward was named the Top Diver at the Regional Meet.
George Ranch Swim Coach Emily Regetz was named the Boys Team Region Coach of the Year, and Lamar Consolidated and Terry high school’s swim coach Toni Schramme shared the honor of being Girls Team Region Coach of the Year.
Lamar CISD District Dive Coach Erin Cooper earned the Boys Diving Team Coach of the Year honors.
The UIL State Meet will be held Feb. 21-22 at the University of Texas in Austin.
