New Lamar Consolidated High School Football Coach Rick LaFavers
Lamar CISD’s Board of Trustees has approved Rick LaFavers as Head Football Coach and Campus Coordinator for Lamar Consolidated High School.
LaFavers has 18 years of coaching experience, including time in the SEC, Big 12, C-USA and Mountain West conferences, along with FCS (NCAA Football Championship Subdivision) and Texas high schools.
LaFavers coached and taught biology at Fort Bend ISD’s Ridge Point High for the 2014 season. He was the defensive coordinator and a biology teacher at Lamar Consolidated High School during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
He coached at the college level, with stops at Rice, Texas State, Texas A&M, Alabama and TCU. He served as running backs, tight ends and special teams coordinator during various seasons at Rice. He coached linebackers at Texas State and was the head strength and conditioning coach at Texas A&M.
Originally from Amarillo, LaFavers has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from TCU, where he was a team captain and a second-team All-Southwest Conference defensive back in 1995.
