Welcome to the McNeill Library! My name is Megan Kirkpatrick. I’m your school librarian. Exciting things are happening in the library. I’m looking forward to working with you and your child this year.
Mission Statement
The mission of Lamar Consolidated ISD Librarians is to create a physical and digital environment in which our students, staff, and community can strengthen their natural inquisitive nature, foster a love of reading, and serve as a collaborative resource for teachers and staff in developing and delivering powerful learning experiences across all curricular areas.
Student Checkout and Classes
The library is open Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. Extended hours will be available during special events. Students visit the library weekly for literacy-based lessons and the opportunity to check-out books. Kindergarten and first grade may borrow one book during library class. Second through fifth grade may choose two books.
Library Activities
The library sponsors a book fair in the fall and a Read-A-Thon in the spring. The proceeds from these fundraisers help to buy books, pay for special author visits, and student programs.
Library volunteers are an essential part of our program. They help in running the circulation desk and shelving books. This allows the librarian to devote more time to teach children the valuable skills of enjoying literature and becoming information masters. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Hearn.
