For 2018-19 school year, LCISD students were challenged to create machines that would unzip a zipped bag in as many steps as possible. Each campus was provided the following materials to make the machine:
- 5 cardboard sheets
- ½ pound of marbles
- 1 length of string
- 4 toilet paper tubes
- 25 jumbo craft sticks
- 20 library books
- Regular scotch tape
- 4 book ends
- Water bottles
- Clothes pins
- 10 empty tissue boxes
- $20 in Amazon purchase
- 7 balloons
- 1 roll of duct tape
- 3 spice tins
- 8 plastic cups
- 2 pieces of pipe insulation
- 20 pipe cleaners
- 2 plastic spoons
- 5 drinking straws
- 40 dominoes
